According to the work methodology adopted, a prior analysis was carried out to recognise the general characteristics of the land and its surroundings, in order to propose an architectural and volumetric solution appropriate to the site’s characteristics, without neglecting the best possible implementation to ensure effective sun exposure.

Therefore, dimensions were adopted that adjust to the natural topography of the land, which has slopes gradually down to the main street, through the recreation of a base on which the construction of the house is planned. There is also a steep slope between the main road and the back of the plot, reminiscent of the topography of yesteryear, when the back gardens of the houses touched the sea.

Thus, an architectural object that relates to its surroundings was brought into being in order to take advantage of the terrain’s characteristics. The structure was implanted on the first half of the tongue of land up to the rear alignments of the adjacent houses, and the existing unevenness was used to design a swimming pool.

In terms of architectural conceptions, we designed a building implanted on a generically rectangular flat base, spread over two floors with different uses. In the centre of the façade we have the main entrance which invites us into the entrance hall of the house. On the right we have the covered car park for two vehicles and, on the left, the medical practice, consisting of the reception area, the bathroom, and the consulting room. Finally, the hall leads us to the clients’ homes, where the most frequented living areas are located on the ground floor, such as the living room, dining room, kitchen and utility room. The staircase leads to the TV room on the first floor. The spatial distribution of the first floor is as follows: a large central lounge gives access to the three bedrooms, a bathroom, an office and, finally, to the master bedroom (consisting of a bedroom, a wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom). A skylight with a trapdoor staircase was designed for the office, facilitating access to the flat roof for maintenance purposes.

The most prestigious areas, the living room and dining room on the ground floor and the master bedroom on the first floor, are located facing south, where they enjoy remarkable views of the sea. Also to the south of the villa, a swimming pool and a solarium follow the same elevation as the house’s threshold in order to extend its area. At the same level, the interior of the house is projected towards the outdoor terrace, creating the effect of bringing the sea to the swimming pool.
