With regard to the architectural design, the house is divided into three intentionally uncoordinated rectangular volumes: the body of the basement floor, which houses the large garage and “man cave,” then the ground floor, the social spaces, and the first floor, the intimate spaces, resting on the ground floor under the same axis, but out of alignment and partially cantilevered. We are reminded of Lego blocks that give rise to an architectural object that relates to the surrounding environment and that takes advantage of the rural characteristics of the land. The house was located in such a way as to guarantee a reasonable distance from the public road.

We planned the living spaces with the greatest circulation on the ground floor, where the living rooms, kitchen, utility room, a guest bathroom, a bedroom with a sleeping area and an accessible ensuite bathroom are the main features. The first floor houses the most private spaces: two bedrooms with built-in wardrobes and a common bathroom, and a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and two walk-in closets. The connection to the different floors is made in the double-height hall, by two flights of stairs.

Two distinct materials are proposed for the three bodies (exposed concrete in block -01 and block 01 and wooden slats in the central body). These are materials that, when layered together, create an aesthetically appealing house.

With regard to the exterior arrangements, in addition to the areas for vehicle circulation and pedestrian access, an unobstructed area of solarium to support the infinity pool is planned.

All the remainder of the site is landscaped, divided into different areas: forest and meadow, and the meadow is composed of various types of native and exotic herbaceous plants and shrubs that are found in the Azores. We also planned the partial recovery of the boundary walls, made of dry basalt stone laid by hand, which confer upon the site its predominantly rural characteristics.
